US vs Iran: Will it be War over the Strait of Hormuz?

An Iranian fighter plane has spotted a US aircraft carrier crossing the Strait of Hormuz. The Strait of Hormuz is the lifeline for exporting oil from the Middle East to the rest of the world. Iranian officials are saying the aircraft carrier is from the Fifth Fleet, which is stationed in nearby Bahrain. Iran has threatened to cut off the oil supply from the waterway in retaliation to the sanctions imposed by the US. Anthony Shaffer, a senior fellow at the Center for Advanced Defense Studies, joins us to break down what is going on between the US and Iran and explains if a war between the two will be in the near future.

  1. Same shit, different war.

    Wake up!

  2. The channel in the strait is only around 6 miles wide….and a scuttled tanker would kill the global economy, rather quickly. this is the reason for kid gloves treatment of Iran, even while the more rabid nutjobs wave swords.A llok at that map, above, and the reports, over the last 10 years of Sunburn(sic) missiles, and the like…it’s gonna take Michelle, or someone equally as crazy(or perhaps a Boykin-like Admiral, all afeared of a fishing boat) to set that off. Once it begins, I pray that I have sufficient beans, bullets and bandaids laid by.
